GOD IS A BRILLIANT SCIENTIST

h e y! :) 

So here's the lowdown. Once upon a time, in the majestic land of Indianapolis, lived two sister missionaries, Sister Burgon and Sister Gray. They felt oh so blessed at the amazing week that they had and felt totally humbled by the Lord in gratitude for granting all of their deepest wishes. Why did these sisters feel this way? Well, its simple really...not because they felt good about what they had done...no, not one bit, but because of the people around them who were truly in the hands of the Lord. They were called to teach these people...but in reality, in this fantastic week, these people had taught THEM.

So we will begin with the 3 amigos...Z___, J___, and M_____. After a conversation reflecting on all the wonderful miracles happening around him, Z___ was able to realize that Heavenly Father has been answering his prayers this whole time. In his words, "Man, God really has been talking to me...I've just had to realize it." With his supportive brother by his side, Z___ and J___ learned about the perfect plan of Happiness and were in awe at the knowledge that we actually do have about our lives. (and randomly got suuuuper interested in family history hahaha woooot) They continue to progress well for their approaching baptismal date on MAY 6th. 

M_____ put his trust in the sisters as he followed them all the way up to the land of Carmel, for a surprise lesson. He was amazed to arrive at the TEMPLE, where he learned about forever families and the miracle of the House of the Lord. The kind Temple workers even let him go inside the waiting room, to which he stayed and did not want to leave. McDonalds cookies accompanied this visit, which of course made for a night well spent. M_____ as also accepted to live many commandments, without question...a true reflection of his faith and is excited also...for baptism on MAY 6th.

Now to our fair ladies, E____ and A___. (Is anyone else dying at the level of cheese on this email besides me?...hang in there folks)  Upon meeting E___ after her first week back to church after 5 years of absence, Emily showed us that she read and studied  a l l  the missionary pamphlets, read and prayed everyday, attended the Temple lesson with the sisters and M____, hung out with those in the YSA, came to FHE, institute, AND traveled with the sisters to Terre Haute (more on that later). And felt closer to God than she ever has before. Truly remarkable indeed.

Dear A___ came excited to share the news that her prayers had been giving her strength, new perspective and open-mindness, and that the knowledge of the Plan of Happiness had been enlightening her mind all week. The sisters and A___ learned together the miracle of life after death and Eternal happiness...something that had actually been on her mind. The sisters were blown away by her...as usual. She too traveled with the sisters to Terre Haute...which brings us to the climax of this silly tale....

On the 22nd of April, in the year 2017, J H entered the waters of baptism in the land of Terre Haute, which these two grateful sister missionaries, E____, and A___, were blessed to attend. The spirit was touching....both on E____ and A___, J, and of course all who were in attendance. How happy we are to be so touched at the opportunity to be cleansed by the waters of baptism...only through our precious Savior, Jesus Christ. 

To end this fantastic week...the sisters were blessed with an opportunity to do a church swap with a new friend on campus, C____...who was intrigued of their message by a slice of free cake (see last week's letter lol). They were also caught off guard in laughter when two birds speedily attacked a girls head that they were talking to...the theme of their was 'miracles'...and the moment of the birds attack was preceded by the girl saying, "I know that miracles aren't so "in your face" as they were in the past, but sometimes I wish they were that obvious"...que the birds. God most certainty has a sense of humor, yes, yes He does. 

For the fact that I myself, Sister Burgon, am getting a headache from this silly talk, and a hand-cramp from the length...I must stop. But do wish you all sincere love and appreciation and of course thank my dear Father in Heaven, who truly is the most brilliant scientist of all. For how else could all these blessed events work out so perfectly. I now close my tale. Till next week. Farewell.

TRIALS + CAKE...WHO COULD ASK FOR MORE

Heyyyy ery'body!! 

This. Week. Was. Fantastic. 

I can't even tell ya!! 

There were so many trials...hahaha that sounds so bad...I will explain later, but seriously trials are a complete blessing! 

And this mayyyy have possibly been the fastest week ever! 

And it was gorgeous...life is good! 

Hang on for a long email...but full of coooooooool stories:) 

It all started on Monday, after Fast Sunday...one thing real quick...there is POWER in fasting, I promise! We were walking to the church to teach Z___ and J___ and we found out that in the course of 24 hours, Z___ had gotten hit with a whoolllee bunch of trials. And so did J___! It was crazy, but it totally opened them up to the Gospel and was a little bit of a "push in the right direction" for them. They both came to institute and Z___ got his very first blessing. He said he felt completely filled with peace and was amazed at it. More and more witnesses that this is the right place for them. Which is what they've been searching for...Z___ has been more apprehensive than J___, so that's why this little trial was a blessing for him. Not that I wish trials for my investigators hahaha I'm just really amazed and proud of them and how they handled this trial and used it to help them.

The next day we got to go on exchanges with the GC sisters!! They both came to our area again and we got to blitz with them. They were terrified to come on campus, and so it was AWESOME to see them really open up and do so well all day!! J______...a recent convert, found us on campus and wanted to help us PC. So he wore my 2nd badge and literally contacted people alongside of us...its safe to say that we talked to TONS of people that day. haha J______ even came up with a rap about it...which i'll attach...it made my life! I also got to see Bro Petes and Vicki who came down for a check up....I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. They are my heroes! T'was a very good day indeed. 

Wednesday has become our weekly run-everywhere-and-teach-everyone day haha. We started with teaching M_____ about the commandments and Sabbath Day and he humbly accepted to change and keep them. This guy is on fire! He just makes us happy! After teaching D_____ quickly on campus, we ran back to the church to teach Z___ and J___ again. We taught about how to recognize and understand the Holy Ghost. They have been receiving answers left and right, now they just need to realize that they are answers! It was an awesome lesson and Z___ bore a powerful testimony that he realized that he shouldn't have felt peace about his trials, but since the priesthood blessing...he has!! We had an awesome YSA come, and he just added a POWERFUL spirit there, super grateful for this lesson, it was amazing. Later that night, after institute, J___ got a priesthood blessing as well. Afterwards he said, "I know that the Priesthood is real". AHHHHHHHFHFUESNJFNEUEBFEBFUESJFNE :):):):):)

Thursday...my 15 month mark...wut...Cute Sister Gray made a huge sign and ran around the apartment screaming and celebrating and waving an American flag hahaha I just love that cute comp of mine! We had an awesome first lesson with a New investigator, 

L ______....man oh man...we got a good one...stay tuned! Right after we finished the lesson, a guy came up to us and said we had "won"!! He sat down a massive sheet cake in front of us, gave us plates and forks and said enjoy!!! :) hahaha...uhhh..."THANK YOU RANDOM CITIZEN!" SO we took the cake outside, made a sign that said "Free Cake" and continued to pass out cake and pass-along cards!!! We even had a guy call us later and set up a return appointment with us! Blessings come in the form of cake:) To top off a great day, we also had interviews with President Carlson! And...I got fried by the sun...great day great day #farmers 

We were also able to meet with A___ again! She too got hit with a cake in the face of trials, and it was incredible to see how much it has progressed her testimony in God in the process. She is even more committed than before, geeeeez girl!! Friday we got to go to MLC and it was a party and a half:) 

Last cool story, thanks for hanging on! While we were blitzing this week, Sister Gray and Sister Ostermiller were riding the bus back to campus and started talking to the people they were sitting by. Turns out that one of the girls, E____, is a member! She said she hasn't been active in the church for a while, but was super happy to see them! Well a few days later, we got a referral from the office and it was E____! She called into the office and requested missionaries and a Book of Mormon for herself. We got in contact with her and she has been completely prepared to come back to church. She has an intense desire to change, and CAME TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY! The topics were totally inspired for her and it was awesome. Then she got one of every single pamphlet we had, said she'd be to all the week-day activities, and set up a time to meet with us too! Coolest experience to hear her story and see first-hand that no matter how far you think you've wandered, you really can come back, whenever! Heavenly Father is there and waiting and walking beside you...and will continue to do so! He is aware of you!!

D&C 76:22-24

"And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father—That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God."

Hello hello hello!! 

T'was a good week again!!! 
I will have to be quick today, but here's a few highlights from our fantastical, fun, fantabulous week! :) 

We got to go on exchanges this week with Sister Mower and Sister Collard who are serving in Plainfield right now! Exchanges have changed so that the sisters both come to our area now! We call it "blitzing". It was so much fun to bring them both to campus. We were able to teach/find and get a lot done....maybe we should bring 4 sisters to campus all the time;) But it was great and these sisters always teach me soooooo much! They are amazing!

We taught D_____ about the Book of Mormon this week and had the coolest experience with it. We have been teaching D_____ for a while, and each time he comes, he hasn't retained anything haha but he is in the process of becoming a member of another church, and is always be super happy to meet up with us, so of course, we do:) So this time we reealllyyy didn't want to teach the restoration to him for the 5th time...but felt like we should just go over the Book of Mormon more and read from it with him. SCRIPTURE POWER...once we started talking about it...it was as if he had heard the coolest news in the world and his whole demeanor changed. He asked to read it, and was marking phrases the entire time haha:) Does the Book of Mormon hold power? Why yes, yes it does!!! Amazing to hear President Monson testify of that too!! Sometimes I think it is one of the biggest things we take for granted...but it is one of the biggest blessings we have!!

Update on the three amigos!! 
M_____ is on fire!! This week we taught him twice, and he came to church. We taught him the Plan of Salvation and as we were leaving, he looks up in the sky, sees the moon and says, "Look! The Terrestrial Kingdom!!" He also sends us texts all the time talking about how cool the Book of Mormon is, and how awesome he feels as he's been learning! This guy is on fire....we joke all the time that April 29th is just too far away and that he could be baptized today:) Cool to watch him grow!! 

Z___ and J___ are also doing super awesome! They had lots of questions about prophets and authority after conference last week, so we spent some time in the scriptures and then watched The Restoration video. The spirit was extremely strong and they really made the connection to Joseph Smith. It's just crazy to see how much desire they have!!! 

If you haven't seen the #PRINCEofPEACE video(s) yet, give them a watch...they are sooooo powerful...and motivational. They even motivated us to go all over campus, passing out #PRINCEofPEACE cards to anyone we passed, and secretly placing them in people's bags when they weren't looking....see? Super motivational....now you really wanna go watch it huh? and repeat:) 

Pick up from last week...ready to hear about A___'s cool experience with prayer??? ITS A GOOD ONE! Soooo she has been having some really hard times this week and last, so for her prayer, she was just explaining allllll her feelings to Heavenly Father and just really talking to him. As she closed and started falling asleep for the night, she heard her phone go off...someone was calling her. So she got up to see who it was, and it was SISTER ELLIS (the first missionary who she met and talked to about the gospel in AZ) She said she felt like calling her and they were able to talk about all the things going on in A___'s life right now. Talk about Heavenly Father working through His children right? AMAZING!! :) 

SO it wasss a good week! And another one to come because HOLY...it's EASTER TIME!! I am just so grateful for my Savior. I know that no matter what life is throwing your direction right now, if you are founded on Jesus Christ and living His gospel, you will not be dragged down. 

"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty stormshall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall." ~Helaman 5:12

oh hey there..."WELCOME" 

G'Day Y'all :) I hope you had a fantastic week! 

Our week was c r a z y here and sooooo good!!!! It started off by saying goodbye to my dear companion Sister Griffiths and saying hello to my dear new companion Sister Gray!!! We've had lots of miracles and fun and I love her!!! Plus she's been teaching me lots of English phrases so that's been fun...I'm becoming cultured....

The week started off with meeting with A ___! Let me introduce you to this wonderful person. A ___ is a friend of one of our YSA's here in the branch, C _____. C _____ has been sharing the Gospel with A ___ and even brought her to church. A ___ has absolutely loved everything that C _____ has taught her and even has a Book of Mormon, and met missionaries when they went on a trip to Arizona. Needless to say...she is p r e p a r e d. We had our first lesson with her this week and it was absolutely incredible. It's quite the experience to meet with someone who is totally prepared by the Lord. She is trying to find a faith of her own, so we taught her about Heavenly Father and prayer and challenged her to try praying for herself. AND SHE DID. She said she had the greatest experience/miracle that happened when she prayed and I just can't wait to hear about it tonight as we teach her again!!!

Ready for the miracles? Get ready!! Remember the three amigos from last weeks letter? 

Z ___, J ___ and M _____?? WELL UPDATE...THEY ARE ON FIRE!!!! We met with M_____ who was super excited to tell us that he quit his job so that he could be available to come to church with us on Sundays!! WE DIDN'T EVEN ASK HIM TO DO THAT!! It was just something he felt like he needed to do, so he did. Well his boss was willing to work out a deal with him that allows him to keep his job, and only work one Sunday a month. M _____ was amazed and said he felt that God was working that out for him. He basically bore his testimony to us about it and we asked him what his next step was in his progression of his faith. Guess what HE said....b a p t i s m!! :) He explained how he felt ready and that that was what Heavenly Father was leading him to do! Happy to say that he has accepted a baptismal date for April 29th!! And he is SUPER excited about it! And in our next lesson with him after that one, he asked E ____ (the recent convert who brought M _____) to baptize him and you should have seen their faces...it was the coolest moment ever. Since then M _____ has been reading the Book of Mormon and he says it makes him excited, happy, motivated, and feeling good, he came to conference and LOVED it:) 

At our lesson with J ___, he said he also felt the spirit after praying to know the truth of the church. Z ___ expressed how he wants to be baptized again and was asking the greatest questions....he's truly searching. Again, we asked them...and they accepted a baptismal date for April 29th too!! Can you imagine if all of these best friends got baptized on the same day?? By their friend who was just recently baptized? When they all found out that they had each accepted the same baptismal date, they all freaked out and got super excited....AND WE DID TOO!

So safe to say it was a great week and conference was the best thing to top it all off. I KNOW that those men are truly called and inspired of God. Every question I had in mind was answered plus more, I felt the spirit so strong, and I know that this is really the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST. He loves you!!!
